Our Course through Time
Friends of Merimna is a non-profit association that was established in 2002, seven years after the founding of Merimna (Non-Profit Society for the Care of Children and Families facing Illness and Death).
The association began with a small group of volunteers who decided to join forces and to wholeheartedly contribute to the common goal, of the moral and financial support of the scientific and community-centered work of Merimna, whose services are provided free of charge.
This joint effort, of the original 20 founding members, continues to this day with the same dedication. Always progressing and adapting to new challenges as well as attracting more and more new members.
In 2012, “Friends of Merimna”, founded a Thessaloniki branch, based on the same principles and having the same mission: To inform the general public of the services offered by Merimna and to financially support the “Childhood Bereavement Counseling Center” in Northern Greece.
With their continued support and active engagement throughout the years, “Friends of Merimna” have raised a significant percentage of the annual resources needed for the ongoing operation of the services offered by Merimna. At the same time, they have created a highly active team of Volunteers and Members, approximately 270, who offer their services with great enthusiasm and devotion.
